Ripple's XRP dropped over 5% in the past 24 hours, falling below $0.50 for the first time since July 13. In the legal battle with the SEC, the U.S. regulator plans to appeal a judge's decision in July that stated Ripple did not violate securities law with XRP. Altcoins are generally down this week, with XRP being among the hardest hit. The CoinDesk Market Index (CMI) is at its lowest point since mid-June. Meanwhile, Bitcoin continues its sideways movement, currently trading at around $25,670.
Decentralized exchange Sushi has expanded to the Aptos layer-1 blockchain, making it available on a network incompatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) for the first time. With Sushi having more than seven times the value locked compared to the entire Aptos blockchain, this expansion could attract fresh capital and compete with other non-EVM chains like Solana, Mixin, and Osmosis.
India is set to determine its position on cryptocurrency in the coming months, taking into account global leaders' views on an acceptable regulatory framework. This marks a potential shift as India previously imposed harsh taxes, anti-money laundering rules, and enforcement actions against major crypto exchanges. This move suggests that India might develop its own crypto legislation, following the suspension of earlier plans for comprehensive crypto regulation in early 2022.

The chart of the day shows that Bitcoin's daily trading volume on Saturday reached its lowest level since February 2019, with only $5.4 billion worth of Bitcoin traded in a 24-hour period. This decline in volume reflects a lack of trading activity and positive sentiment in the crypto market, resulting in low volatility, similar to levels seen in December 2022. Historically, periods of low volatility have been followed by significant price movements, as seen when Bitcoin surged from $19,600 to $29,200 in response to spot ETF optimism.
